Summary

aql® HLR and related services

A home location register (HLR) is an integral part of all GSM network architecture. The HLR allows third parties to query whether a subscriber is registered on the network and also information such as their endpoint or whereabouts. This information allows third parties to set up calls or messaging to that party without using the host networks infrastructure (eg, in the case of SMS messaging, without using the destination networks' SMSC).

Messaging into the aql® SIP network

In order to message to a handset on our network, you need to know the endpoint of that subscriber and also know whether they are subscribed at the time of messaging. The aql® HLR API allows third party VoIP providers to send messages to either a particular VoIP username, or to a particular aql® PSTN long number. The api also provides an output of numbers accessible on our network, which can be used as part of a third party data fill.

Interconnecting with aql®

In the spirit of interoperability, aql® are willing to work with all telco's large and small. If you are a VoIP provider with your own OFCOM assignment of PSTN numbers, please contact us. We will provide the third party network with open messaging access into the aql® network, subject to our interconnect agreement and subject to aql® gaining a similar level of access into the third party network.
